How To Reuse Roomba Bags [Simple]

Are you tired of constantly buying expensive Roomba bags? Well, there’s a simple and cost-effective solution to make your Roomba bags reusable!

When your robot vacuum bag gets full, you don’t need to go through the hassle of cutting it open or making adjustments that could affect its dust-collecting abilities. Instead, just follow these easy steps:

How To Make Roomba Bags Reusable

Once the robot vacuum bag gets full, do the following:

  1. Remove bag from base station.
  2. Take bag outside.
  3. Use shop vacuum to suck out the dirt inside the bag.

It’s that simple.

No need to cut open the bag or make adjustments to the bag that can make it dust collecting abilities worse, just suck it back out the bag.

The hole of the vacuum bag is small, so it’s hard to get the dirt out, but hook a shop vacuum or any vacuum with a hose up to the hole, and it will suck it back out.

If the dust and dirt were able to go in the hole the first time they’ll go back out again, especially when you use a shop vacuum which is stronger. You’ll also suck out more things like allergens stuck to the fibers of the bag and make the bag keep it’s filtering abilities strong.

This works great as it will work better to get all the dust out than any other method you find online.

Other Ways

There are many others online that show you how to make your robot vacuum bags reusable.

This video below takes a new bag and adds Velcro to it to make it easy to split open.

The Velcro idea is a good one, but requires a new bag and modifying it.

Affordable Options

The last option is not a reuse option, but the reason why people want to reuse the Roomba bags is because they’re expensive.

You don’t have to buy the Roomba brand bags, you can buy aftermarket options that work just fine and at a better price point.

Here is one example: 16 Pack Vacuum Bags Automatic Dirt Disposal Bags Compatible with iRobot Roomba i & s &j Series i (7150) i7+ i7 Plus (7550) i3+(3550) i6+ (6550) i8+(8550) s9 (9150) s9 Plus (9550 955020) j7+(7550) Bag (Amazon Link Ad)

How Long Do Roomba Bags Last?

Roomba says you can get 30 runs out of your self-emptying robot vacuum, but many owners are getting over 50 with no issue.

If you run your robot vacuum every day, you can easily go 2 months before emptying your Roomba bag.

Making the Roomba bags reusable could easily get you 4 to 6 months before needing a new bag, so you can see the money saving benefits.

Reusable

If you reuse the Roomba bags that are not made to be reused, they will not be as good as the original, but they’ll be good enough.

The vacuum bags that are used are very high quality and give you several more runs.

The problem you may run into is odor when you reuse the bags. As the bags get older they can’t stop the odors from escaping, so if you’re sensitive to smells, reusing the bags is not ideal.

If you also suffer from allergies, then reusing the bags is a no-go. As the bags get older, the allergens will escape more often and back into the air, which is not what you want.
